ACT

Getting Admitted To College: Testing

Four year Colleges and some Community Colleges may require a test score in order to gain admittance, or to receive scholarships. ACT and SAT do charge a testing fee.

  • You must register online for the ACT at www.act.org, or www.collegeboard.com for the SAT.

  • Your counselor can help answer questions.

  • NHS hosts an ACT PowerPrep Course in the Fall,  watch your email for registration information.

  • Students are eligible to take the ACT for free in their Junior year. Registration information will be sent to parents and students via email in November.

PreACT Test

Free Opportunity
The state of Kansas is paying for any freshmen student that is interested in taking the PreACT test.  The test will be given DURING the school day on November 9, 2023. This will be an in person paper / pencil test environment.

WHY take the PRE ACT?
The PreACT helps educators, students, and parents, identify areas of academic strength and opportunity. Students may opt to have their information shared with colleges and scholarship agencies when they take PreACT, providing greater opportunities for recruitment and scholarship awards.

The PreACT simulates the ACT testing experience within a shorter test window on all four ACT test subjects
