Twenty-four (24) credits meet the minimum requirements for graduation from Newton High School. One credit (1.0) is granted for the successful completion of a course, which meets for two semesters (1 school year). One-half credit (.5) is granted for the successful completion of a course that meets for one semester. Seventeen credits (17) are required classes and seven credits (7) are elective classes that students may choose.
In order to participate in Newton High School graduation exercises, seniors must have completed all credits necessary for graduation by the end of the last day of classes for NHS seniors.
