Class of 2026 welcomes the year with "Senior Sunrise" tradition

In what has become a Senior class tradition, the Newton High School class of 2026 marked the start of their senior year with the "Senior Sunrise."

Students gather at Centennial Hill to take pictures, eat donuts and watch the sunrise together.

"This was a great memory for me because getting together with a lot of my classmates for our last year together is something I will definitely remember," senior Ady Klug shared.

The tradition is two-part, with the "Senior Sunset" taking place in May to mark the end of the year.

"As the sunrise was beautiful that day, we all got to chat together and discuss random things. Then I got to take several pictures with many people, with the scenic sky in the background. It was a great time to get together with our class to kick off our senior year, as we only have so much time left with each other," NHS Student Body President, Nadiya Avendano said.

We wish you the best year ahead, seniors! #RailerPride
